I had to learn this too

My sister once told me my Facebook posts were “off-putting.”

She was right. Although it wasn’t easy to hear, her comment changed the way I marketed my massage practice and eventually helped shape the business support I now offer other therapists.

I had retrained as a massage therapist at 49 after being made redundant, and my confidence was at an all-time low. Even with years of business and management experience, I had to learn how to reach people beyond friends and family and market such a personal service.

I had started to make progress, but then I lost my rented treatment room. Soon afterwards, my practice was shut down completely during the Covid lockdowns. I used that time to build my garden studio and website, study what helped successful massage businesses grow, and experiment until I found what worked for me.

I went on to build a profitable practice that fits the way I want to live, without giving up my evenings and weekends.

When other therapists began asking how I had made it work, I realised I could help them find their own way forward.

Use them as they are or personalise them so they sound like you and suit your practice. They will help you stay visible without having to create every post from scratch.

Resources you can put to work

Action sheets, trackers, policies, templates and other practical tools that give you something useful to follow or adapt.

Community, Q&A and implementation support

A place to ask questions, discuss ideas, get another perspective and have some accountability for the actions you want to take.

You will be supported in finding what works for you, rather than being told that there is one correct way to run a massage business.

UK business guidance and reminders

Practical help with the responsibilities that are easy to miss when you work alone, including tax, bookkeeping, policies, systems and compliance.

There is no pressure to use everything or keep up with everyone else. You can start with what would help your business most now and return to other resources when you need them.

You don't have to work it out on your own

Running a massage practice can be isolating. There may be no colleagues to talk to when you want to discuss an idea or work out why something has not produced the result you expected.
